The Central Scotland Women in Property (‘WiP’) Summer Drinks is always one of the highlights of the year. This year had the added bonus of also being WiP Student Awards celebration. Bringing together over 100 attendees from across the built environment sector. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate emerging talent, recognise hard work and ambition, and champion the next generation of professionals entering the industry.
Calton Hosts CV and LinkedIn Workshop for Women in Property Nominees
Calton was delighted to support this year’s student awards programme. Emily Bates, Senior Planner at Calton hosted the CV and LinkedIn workshop for the nominated students ahead of the celebration at The Scotsman. As a previous WiP North West Student winner, Emily had a full circle moment in delivering the workshop. This also aligned perfectly with her role as Next Chair on the Central Scotland WiP Committee. The workshop provided an opportunity for students to receive individual guidance on up-levelling their CVs. This included practical steps on creating a strong student LinkedIn profile and how to use the platform as a tool for networking.
For many students, the transition from university into the built environment sector can feel both exciting and daunting. Having the right tools, confidence and professional network can make a real difference. Through the workshop, the aim was to help students reflect on their experience, recognise the value of their skills, and communicate their strengths in a clear and authentic way. It was a pleasure to meet such a talented and enthusiastic group. The team at Calton Planning are delighted to have played a small part in supporting them at the beginning of their professional journeys.
Celebrating This Year’s Women in Property Student Nominees
A massive congratulations goes to all of the nominated students. Their energy, ambition and commitment were clear throughout the awards process. We can confidently say that the built environment industry is in safe hands. The quality of talent coming through is hugely encouraging. It is important that businesses across the sector continue to create opportunities, offer guidance and provide platforms for students to develop and thrive.

Recognising Male Allyship in Women in Property
This year’s awards evening also provided an important reminder of the role that male allies play in supporting Women in Property. As well as the wider objective of improving representation across the built environment. It was brilliant to celebrate alongside so many valued male colleagues who continue to show their support for the organisation and its aims.
Why Women in Property Continues to Matter for the Industry
Women in Property continues to play a vital role in championing students and professionals across the built environment sector. The Central Scotland committee deserves huge credit for organising another successful year of the awards. In addition to continuing to create opportunities for students to connect with industry, build confidence and be recognised for their achievements.
Calton is proud to support the work of Women in Property and to contribute to initiatives that encourage the next generation of talent. The CV and LinkedIn workshop was a privilege to host. The awards evening itself was a fantastic celebration of students, mentors, colleagues and allies coming together in support of a stronger, more inclusive industry.
