CLAN LANGUAGE SCHOOLS, EDINBURGH
Planning advisor to CLAN Language Schools to secure detailed change of use planning permission from the City of Edinburgh City Council. Calton secured the change of use of office premises (Class 4) at 10a Rutland Square to education space (Class 10).
PURE PADEL, THE FORGE, GLASGOW
Calton advised Pure Padel on securing the lawful use of the former Cineworld at The Forge for its largest club and first Scottish venue. Following review of the planning history and liaison with the Council, Calton confirmed indoor padel falls within Class 11 and secured a Certificate of Lawfulness to support the change of use.
RIBSTON, OAKBANK INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, GLASGOW
Lead planning advisor to Ribston in securing detailed permission for the change of use of Block 3, Unit 4 at Oakbank Industrial Estate from Assembly and Leisure Use (Class 11) back to its original business and light industry, general industry, and storage and distribution use (Classes 4, 5 and 6).
RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT GALLOWGATE, ABERDEEN
Planning advice to Telereal Trillium to secure Planning Permission in Principle for the demolition and redevelopment of former office site for 140 residential apartments.
VAN GOGH ALIVE
Planning permission secured for the erection of a temporary building to host art exhibition in Edinburgh City centre.
SKYRORA
Advice on the Scottish planning system to Skyora space technology research and development team. Site location research for remote launch sites, engine test and manufacture. Planning applications submitted at Cockenzie East Lothian and Broadlaw Quarry, Midlothian. Broadlaw approved and now operational for rocket engine testing.
LIFF CARE HOME DEVELOPMENT, DUNDEE
Lead planning advisor on planning policy case, including deputations to planning committee. Appeal case won after committee overturned officer approval.
CARNOUSTIE GOLF LINKS
Advice to Carnoustie Golf Club on future planning strategy and irrigation/ pumphouse projects.
ANNANDALE STREET, EDINBURGH
Planning policy, pre-application, listed building impact and consultation advice relating to the redevelopment of a site at Annandale Street, Edinburgh for flatted residential development. Advisers to Hackland and Dore Architects.
PENTLAND TRAIL CENTRE
For Hillend Leisure Limited, working with Swanston Farms Limited, promotion of planning case for a new mountain bike trail centre. Public Consultation, masterplan design, planning policy case and overall client lead on co-ordinating the project.
EXPERT PLANNING WITNESS
Expert planning witness in hotel development case in northeast Scotland – Court of Session appearance. Expert written opinion in lands tribunal case in West End, Edinburgh. Working under instruction via senior legal counsel.
ST JAMES QUARTER
Advice to Nuveen (previously THRE) on the retail-led mixed-use redevelopment of the St James Shopping Centre, including securing outline planning permission, AMSC approvals, and listed building and conservation area consent.
FOUNTAINBRIDGE, EDINBURGH
Originally for S&N Plc and latterly Grosvenor and Moda Living, planning advice across the whole of the former brewery land at Dundee Street, Fountainbridge to secure various permissions for residential-led mixed-use development including build-to-rent homes, affordable and student housing and hotel.
NUCLEUS, WICK
